The Northridge Resort is a low cost place to stay that is popular in Pagudpud.   Accredited by the Philippines Department of Tourism, this relaxing beachfront is a popular destinatination in Pagudpud due to its very nice ambiance.  The tranquil and scenic nature environment makes it an ideal place for a family get-together and for personal rest and relaxation.  It is also a perfect spot for the adventurous and active travellers, with its range of outdoor activities.

Kapurpurawan Rocks are white rock formations on the rocky coast of Burgos, Ilocos Norte.  The beauty of this limestone formation was naturally formed by the forces of strong wind and sea.. The view is simply mind-blowing and a photo-shoot session is a must for every traveller.

Kapurpurawan comes from the root word “puraw” which means white in the local Ilocano dialect.  The amazing textures of this white limestone formation, makes it unique and makes it a popular destination.  This Pagudpud place of interest can be reached through a short tricycle ride from Burgos town.  There is NO sight vendors or any commercial ad.. It’s just plain nature at its purest form.  There used to have no entrance fee but now, a minimal Conservation fee is collected upon registration from the jump-off site.. This is a wise move to ensure that the beauty of nature is preserved as its popularity will soon be attracting more and more visitors.

A note for the avid Surfboarding enthusiasts who frequents Pagudpud resorts.  The very strong winds in this part of Ilocos Norte, not only creates those giant waves you love to ride, it is also a living testament that the gentle strength of nature’s wind and sea can carve a magnificent work of art in the form of Kapurawan Rocks.

The Bangui Wind Mills were built by the North Wind Power Development Corporation to take its share in reducing the emission of harmful greenhouse gases (GHGs) causing global warming and to accelerate the rural electrification of the goverment.

In this area, wind mostly comes from the north-east, from the sea towards the land. To optimize the full benefit of the winds, turbines are installed along the shore facing the sea effectively removing wind breaks and achieving a terrain roughness of class 0.

The ‘Wind Farm” as it is aptly called consist of 15 wind turbines. The turbines are on-shore and arranged in a single row spaced 326 meters apart. The turbines hub height (ground level to center of nacelle – that part holding the blades) is 70 meters high (roughly equivalent to a 23 storey building), each blade is 41 meters long (just 9 meters shy of a Olympic sized pool) giving a rotor diameter of 82 meters and a wind swept area of 5,281 square meters.

Bangui Wind Farm is a popular stop for local and foreign tourists going to Pagudpud coming from Baguio and other popular areas in the Ilocos region.

How to get there

Going to Pagudpud from Manila, Florida Bus Line has a direct trip to Pagudpud daily, its terminal is located in Sampaloc, Manila. Partas, Baliwag, Fariсas and other bus company heading to northern Luzon offer Manila-Laoag trips.

From Laoag, it is a two hour jeepney/bus ride to Pagudpud. From Tuguegarao, GMW Liner and Florida Liner trips to Laoag, Vigan or Abra pass through Pagudpud, fare is not more than P250.00. To go to Saud, ask the driver to drop you off at Baduang Market then take a Trcycle to Saud.

If you’re travelling in Pagudpud for a budget, It certainly recommend this resort called Polaris. It has the same shoreline as the famous Saud Beach.

If you are planning to visit Ilocos Norte and are looking for a Pagudpud resort, consider going to Kapuluan Vista Resort.  Its location in the Maira-ira Cove makes this a perfect destination for any traveller.  The minimalist setup of the rooms are very much appreciated since you would be spending most of your time at the beach, which was what the resort was about – enjoying the best of what Blue Lagoon had to offer.

A good thing to note is the real treat that the restaurant has to offer.  Uniquely local and healthy, the dishes are freshly prepared from their organic vegetable garden.  The Filipino-American resort owners always try to serve food that they themselves love to eat.  They try to put some personal touches into their resort.  Even in preparation of their food, keeping their trash to a bare minimum is always practiced to help keep the environment healthy.  The restaurant also serves as the common area hang out and go online as it’s the only Wi-fi zone in the area.

Be sure to visit the Blue Lagoon at the Maira-ira Point in Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte and check into Kapuluan Vista Resort.  Maira-ira point refers to the northernmost tip of mainland Luzon. Somewhere along the coast of this tip lies a white sand-covered cove called the Blue Lagoon in Pagudpud in the Northern Philippines.
